Effective Methods for Draining a Boil

Draining a boil is a very important part of boil treatment. There are many ways in which you can drain a boil. There are mainly two ways to do it. Usually a boil gets drained within four to ten days of its inception. In that case the draining of the boil occurs naturally.

If however the pain becomes unbearable and you decide to drain it, there are a few methods by which you can drain the pus out. But remember that only if your boil is the size of a pea, should you use home remedy. If it is bigger, then it is best to see a doctor. Here are a few methods in which you can drain a minor boil.

Method I

Warm compress is the first best thing that you should do. They make the swelling soft and ease away the pain. They also help the pus to accumulate at the top of the swelling thus helping in the draining of a boil. When the pus accumulates on the top, warm soaks help to burst it open. This process usually takes between five and seven days.

A warm compress can be made by dipping a sterilized cloth in hot water. After the cloth is wet, squeeze away the extra moisture. In most cases, warm cloth does everything. You do not need to do anything more. But there is another thing you can do if you do not want to use warm compress.

Method II

In this case, it is best to wait till the pus has come to the surface of the boil. This is an indicator of the fact that it is ready to be drained out. Next you have to wash the infection with antibacterial soap again and again. This is done till the pus is completely drained out.

After it is gone, work is still not finished. Some medicated ointment should be applied next to the infection. A bandage should be wrapped around the infection. It is best advised to wash the infected area everyday for two weeks, twice to thrice each day. Use of warm soaks side by side with this will make your boil heal a lot faster.
